What's In Store For You in Paris' 20th Arrondissement

Relocating to Paris seems completely intimidating, doesn't it? A capital city of fashion, food, and art, as well as one of the business and financial hubs of the world, you almost feel unworthy to move here, right? That you probably don't deserve to become a Parisian? Though it's a completely understandable feeling, Paris does go beyond this sort of reputation. At its core, the French capital remains a residence for many, and not all of them are famous, wealthy, or work at big companies. There's a side to Paris that's humble, a bit historic, and peaceful. And you'll probably see that in the 20th arrondissement.

A Peaceful Arrondissement

One thing you probably regret about going or moving to Paris is not being in a quiet city. Since it's one of the most-visited cities in the world, you think there's no peace and quiet here right? Wrong! The 20th arrondissement, in particular, is peaceful. Instead of the world-famous ones, the attractions here are underrated, with not a lot of people apart from residents visiting them. And speaking of residents, the arrondissement is largely residential, especially compared to the others. That alone should convince you that you can still live out a normal life in Paris, no matter how extraordinary the city is.

Packed With So Much History

One of the more fascinating neighborhoods in Paris is the Bellville district. Located in the 20th arrondissement, it's had quite a tumultuous history. From starting off as a wine village outside of the walled city of Paris eons ago to becoming a hotbed of rebellion and liberation, its past is arguably more colorful than that of the other districts in the city. And while it's far from what it is today, you can still see relics and remnants of that past in the area today. Moreover, don't you just love it when you're in a part of the city that's seen quite a history?

Fresh Air Dining

It's no secret that terrace dining is the norm in Paris. From high-class hotspots that cater to businessmen to charming cafés perfect for a quiet afternoon, most of the places in Paris have terraces to them. Though the ones in the 20th arrondissement are particularly noteworthy. Why? Because since it is one of the more peaceful arrondissements in the bunch, the air here is quiet, fresh, and soothing. A definite standout is Moncoeur Belleville, a popular restaurant in the historic district. A major plus is that you can actually see the famous Eiffel Tower from its terrace!

Secret Sanctuaries in Paris

Always a great feature of many arrondissements are the many sanctuaries within them. Secret hideaways that only a few know about. Or rather, only a few often go to. The Pere Lachaise Cemetery is one of them. Though yes, it is a graveyard, it's actually common for people—even those who don't have relatives buried here—to go here for some peace and quiet. An added bonus is that many historic Paris icons are laid here, one of which is the singer, Edith Piaf. And at the back of the gate of this cemetery, there's a 'secret garden.' Fascinating enough for you?

A Few Great Hotels

Finally, an arrondissement can never go wrong with a few great hotels! Hotel Comete and Mama Shelter Paris are just some you can book a staycation in. And heaven knows, if you're living in this impossibly busy city, you'll need as much staycation time as you can get! Not to mention when your folks or friends from your native country go here to visit you, letting them stay in any of these hotels would have them near you. They're probably just a hop and a skip away from your own place in the city.

The 20th arrondissement may not be the Paris you were expecting, but that's not exactly a bad thing. Moving here is far from the city you've seen in movies or on TV, but it's one that only you'll know as your brand new home in France!

If you really want to call the 20th arrondissement of Paris your new home, get a luxury rental as your new place! It's the only way to go in this part of the city!
