Has the summer heat gotten to you in
Paris? Let's hope not! The city still has a lot in store, especially this August 2025. July may usually be the city's busiest months, but that doesn't mean August is a snoozefest! For one thing, music lovers have a lot to be excited about next month. The city will host several music festivals, including the annual Jazz à la Villette and Rock en Seine, both beloved by locals and tourists alike. The upcoming Silhouette Short Film Festival is another highlight, especially since it mostly features short films. It's unlike any other film festival!
Blackpink 2025 World Tour (August 2)
Undoubtedly the most popular K-pop girl group today, Blackpink is set to perform live in Paris this August 2, 2025. They'll take to the stage at Stade de France, the country's national stadium in Saint-Denis, one of the
suburbs of Paris. The concert is one of their many stops in the global “Deadline” tour, which will see its four members—Jennie, Lisa, Rose, and Jisoo—reunite on the stage after a long break. The girls have been busy in their various solo projects in the last few years, which include TV stints, individual music releases, and more.

Cinéma en Plein Air 2025 (August 2 to 20)
Cinéma en Plein Air 2025
began in July, but it's truly in full swing this August. Starting August 2nd, the famous outdoor cinema in Parc de la Villette will screen beloved Hollywood and international films. Among the most famous include “Eyes Wide Shut” (1999) on August 12th, “Black Swan” (2010) on August 4th, and “The Artist” (2011) on August 5th. The best part about it is that the event is free, open to all cinephiles who want to watch movies under the stars in the famous park. You can also rent lawn chairs for about €6.00 each.
Fête de l'Assomption (August 15)
The Feast of the Assumption is one of the few religious
holidays in France that Paris commemorates. While the city is no longer as religious as it was in the past, it has nevertheless retained many of its sacred traditions. Notre Dame's Fête de l'Assomption is one of them, which is held every August 15th. Similarly to past years, the celebrations start with an afternoon mass in the iconic church at 18:30 (6:30) pm, followed by a vigil at 20:30 (8:30) pm, and a solemn procession at 21:30 (9:30) pm. The latter will travel around the cathedral and along the Seine River.
Rock en Seine (August 20 to 24)
Heavy metal band Gojira’s appearance at last year's
Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony proved that rock music is embedded in French culture. Paris proves it even further with its annual Rock en Seine music festival, one of the biggest of its kind. Held at Parc de Saint-Cloud, it's a four-day concert featuring the biggest rock bands and other popular artists from around the world. This year, the likes of Empire of the Sun, Vampire Weekend, Queens of the Stone Age, London Grammar, and Chappell Roan will take center stage from August 20 to 24, 2025.
Jazz à la Villette (Begins on August 28)
From one music genre to another, Jazz à la Villette is another exciting music festival in Paris this August 2025. Taking place in Parc de la Villette’s famous music halls, namely Philharmonie de Paris, Grande Halle de La Villette, and Cité de la Musique, the event is a must for any jazz fan in the city. Much like previous editions, the festival will feature established and emerging artists, not to mention talks, forums, and more about the genre. This 2025, the event will take place from August 28 to September 7, 2025, featuring The Headhunters, Jalen Ngonda, Nduduzo Makhathini, Sona Jobarteh, Jeff Mills, Shabaka, and more.
Silhouette Short Film Festival (Begins on August 29)
The Silhouette Short Film Festival deserves more recognition for its contributions to the film industry. While it may not be as famous as the Cannes Film Festival or the Tribeca Film Festival, it's still an awesome industry event that's unlike any other. For one thing, no other film festival highlights short films quite like this one. The other, more famous events tend to focus more on feature-length films and documentaries, even though they also include short films. The Silhouette Short Film Festival, on the other hand, is all about short films, featuring works from both established and emerging filmmakers.
From Blackpink’s World 2025 tour to all sorts of film and music festivals, August 2025 is looking to be a good time in Paris! The city has a lot in store, which is surprising considering that many Parisians usually go on vacation at this time.
