In terms of when to fly here, the summer season often has the most number of flights coming to and from Sardinia.

Where to Come From For Affordable Flights

Now, although flying to Sardinia is the easiest option, it's not always the most affordable. Now that you know about the island's three airports, there's still the issue of actually getting to the many cities of Sardinia. If you're coming from Olbia airport, which is nearer to the northern part of the island, you can easily get to town by bus. The nearest one, of course, is Olbia city, in which it will take you ten minutes to get there and it will only cost you €1.00 to €1.50 for a single-ride ticket. If you land at Alghero airport, on the other hand, taking a taxi to the center of Alghero city typically costs €20.00 to €25.00. You'd do well using a transportation app here too!

Taking The Train to Sardinia

Now, if you're coming from Cagliari airport, which is arguably the most common port of entry for many international tourists, there's actually a unique option you can take apart from the buses to taxis. It's only from Cagliari airport that you can take a train to the nearest towns in Sardinia. A single-ride ticket only costs €1.30, which you can purchase either at the station or online.
