Someone needed to say it, British television is so underrated. People are so caught up with the latest American sitcoms or European dramas that they often overlook the gems of British productions. In fact, it was British TV that upped the ante in terms of production value. Their series offerings often looked and seemed like cinematic features rather than your ordinary TV shows. It's only recently that other countries followed suit. And to this day, some of the greatest that made a mark in people's hearts continues to be loved. Here are some of them worth watching again!

Classic British Series Worth Watching Again

Sherlock

The show that put the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and Andrew Scott on the map! "Sherlock" was a modern adaptation of the classic Victorian-era detective that has been beloved for many years now. However, this series put forth a new dimension to the iconic character. Especially with Cumberbatch's excellent performance. Staying true to the analytical nature of the titular character, Cumberbach added a bit of humour into his portrayal. and along with Freeman's warm portrayal of Watson, they became a massively popular duo both on-screen and on the internet. The Office

Before the very popular US version starring Steve Carell and John Krasinski, "The Office" was actually a notable comedy in Great Britain during the early 2000s. And in fact, many people thought that the British series was so good that the US version couldn't possibly live up to it. In the end, though, both versions have become cult classics among fans. But what makes the original so worth your time is the comedy here seems so natural. With the unique reality TV-like format of the sitcom works so well the dry humour that the Brits are known for, And in fact, it's dry humour that really drives in all the hilarity in the show, both shows, actually!

Call The Midwife

Up for another period piece? See "Call The Midwife!" Set in London during the beautiful 1950s, the series showed what it was like to be a midwife at the time. At the time when the world was experiencing a sudden baby boom after the Second World War. At the time when hospitals didn't have the right best and safest equipment for childbirth yet. And at the time when women were looked down upon, particularly in the field of medicine. A heartwarming narrative about the true caring nature of females, this is the sort of British series that would work best during the holidays!
