A beautiful region filled with iconic landmarks, known for its year-round fog, iconic Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, colorful Victorian Houses, and Alcatraz Island - San Francisco California is a hilly city on the tip of a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. It has a little bit of everything - from historical sites, museums, gardens, iconic art deco, and festivals. Explore and discover the best places to visit and everything San Francisco has to offer.

As one of the most beautiful cities in the United States, San Francisco is set along the ocean with rolling hills and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Beyond the famous bridge, the city is also full of history, great neighborhoods, museums, parks, beaches, and notable attractions. With the museums alone, it is ideal to spend 3-4 days stay, to see and experience SF. But to see more, one week would be better.

The Golden Gate Bridge is the most photographed site in the city, with its orange structure and striking beauty especially at night. It connects San Francisco and Marin Country and other districts further north. It was designated the greatest man-made sight in the United States. It measures approximately two miles in length and was the longest suspension bridge in the world. As the bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists during the daytime, you can walk across the bridge to have a depth feeling of the history and appreciate the scenic beauty of SF.

You shouldn't miss the Alcatraz Island - located in San Francisco Bay, it is one of America's infamous prisons. It became a tourist attraction in 1973. The best way to enjoy Alcatraz is to take a ferry and tour the site. Apart from history and seeing former prison, it is now a prominent area for bird nesting.

Another tourists attraction that should be on your bucket list is the Fisherman's Wharf, you can spend a day or two to tour the site. Once a Little Italy of San Francisco, it is full of shops, restaurants, and a beautiful setting along the waterfront. You can also take a sightseeing cruise for amazing views of the city. Here, you can visit Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and Ghirardelli Square.

Another way to see the beauty of the city is to take a ride on Cable Cars. You'll get to the major attractions such as Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, The Ferry Building, Nob Hill, and Lombard Street.

If you are tired of touring around the city, you can sit down and relax on the beautiful gardens of Golden Gate Park. It's a fabulous green space in the heart of San Francisco. You can also go biking while enjoying thousands of plants around you. Here you can visit de Young Museum, the California Academy of Sciences Museum with Steinhart Aquarium, the Japanese Tea Garden, and the San Francisco Botanical Garden.

Experience China in San Francisco's Chinatown! As one of the major sites of the city, you can enjoy your visit with its temples, theaters, workshops, small businesses, stores, antique and souvenir shops, teahouses, and traditional pharmacies. The best to enjoy Chinatown is during Chinese New Year celebrations.

Be impressed by the Neoclassical Beaux-Arts building, San Francisco's most exquisite museum - the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. It is best for a leisurely walk on this green space with a golf course and coastal woodlands. It boasts spectacular ocean views and perfect outlooks onto the Golden Gate Bridge.

There are more amazing museums to enjoy - be sure you have 3 days allotted for these - the California Academy of Sciences with the Steinhart Aquarium and Kimball Natural History Museum, de Young Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, Asian Art Museum, Exploratorium, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

For some outdoor activities, you can go to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area located across the Golden Gate Bridge from downtown San Francisco. Enjoy the walking trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, and beautiful beach areas. Relax and enjoy nature!
