Neighborhood
A remarkable quality of the village is that it has the same village vibe that it had in the 17th-century which would appeal to people who adore small towns, historic neighborhoods, sidewalk cafes, and places without crowds, making it a good city escape while still having access to the best of Paris. Ile Saint Louis is connected to Paris through the four bridges at each bank of the river.
Highlights of the village include the rue de Saint-Louis-en-l’Île and its specialty boutiques shops, the performers at Pont Saint-Louis, the St-Louis-en-l’Île Church, and the small blocks of the village that sell the only true Berthillon ice cream in Paris, which would be best eaten in dark chocolate or mango flavor. There are also numerous restaurants on the island despite its small size, some of which include the Au Caveau de l’Isle and the Mon Vieil Ami. A drink at the Au Franc Pinot is also a must-try as it maintained the 17th-century vibe, and isn’t very crowded.
